About the job

Responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing a comprehensive ESE program. The ESE Teacher reports to the Special Programs Coordinator or ESE Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Essential functions of the position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Understands how students learn and provides learning opportunities that support intellectual, social, and personal development of diverse learners
    • Evaluates student progress and uses formal and informal assessment strategies to determine whether students have achieved high standards and modifies instructional strategies as needed to maximize achievement.
    • Ensure compliance with District requirements:
    • Assist in preparing reports to document progress and effectiveness of services.
    • Assist in identifying compliance concerns and reporting them to the ESE Coordinator
    • Utilize the electronic management system to update IEP documents. 
    • Provides teachers, students and parents with timely data for improvement in student achievement.
    • Identify student issues which need to be addressed and plan strategies that support students with disabilities.
    • Collaborate with faculty in the implementation of the IEP.
    • Provide teacher support by use of modeling, coaching and other support strategies.
    • Partner with the ESE Coordinator to develop behavior plans for ESE students
    • Provide testing support.
    • Attend and participate in parent meetings as required; maintain regular contact with parents as required by statute relate to students in special programs.
    • Works effectively with school colleagues, parents, and the community to support students’ learning and well-being.
    • Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff.
    • Actively engages in professional development opportunities.
    • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.
  • Takes initiative and is resourceful in problem solving.
  • Positive interpersonal skills and can work well on a team.
  • Bachelor's degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year teaching experience or experience with children
  • Successful results of criminal and employment background check and drug testing.
  • Adherence to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.

Day rate
